Wagga Wagga

Away from these high-profile courses of major Cities are our regional courses and these, in many ways,  provided a backbone for golf in this country. Take a quick glance through the profiles of many of our best golfers of the last 50 years in Australia, and you will notice a large percentage started out as kids in regional centres.  Karrie Webb, Peter O’Malley, Marcus Fraser, Marc Leishman and of course, Wagga Wagga’s own, Steve Elkington.

The course was first laid out by the well-known professional Dan Souter (1905 Australia Open Champion) who would also be known for designing the course at Kingston Heath a few years prior.  Laid out on the banks of Lake Albert and featuring some beautiful stands of established River Red Gums, Wagga Wagga makes for a very pleasant place to play and like so many clubs post COVID, is thriving as a result of a renewed interest in the game.
