Arm End is a once in a lifetime project and after building a number of new courses on the other side of the world, its nice to be able to work on a new course close to home. The land is truly first-class and the equal of anything in the world today. Easily good enough to build a course inside the top 100 in the world and within the top echelon in Australia.
The site features some beautiful contours and breath-taking views and we spent several months routing a course that took advantage of these natural assets and also avoid unnecessary earhthworks. The mixture of big and small-scale undulations is perfect for golf and combined with the coastal breeze and firm fast fescue turf, helps ensure that the course plays differently from day to day.
Unlike many coastal sites that might offer just a couple of holes along the beach, there are in fact 9 which offer dramatic shots played to or along a cliff or coastline plus there are 360 degree views of the water and mountains from practically every part of the property. Easily the most dramatic site. We started OCM with the aim of working on projects exactly like this.
